NDC Rallies Members Ahead of 2027 Polls, Backs Dodo for Nasarawa North Bye-Election
Party Chairman Dogo Shammah Urges Unity, Grassroots Mobilisation, Media Engagement

The Chairman of the Nasarawa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dogo Shammah, has called on party members, candidates and stakeholders to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation as the party positions itself for future electoral victories.
Shammah made the call during a joint meeting of the State Working Committee, party candidates and critical stakeholders held at the Savannah Hotel on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, the state chairman said the meeting marked the party's first official joint engagement since the current leadership assumed office three months ago, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening internal communication and advancing the party's objectives in Nasarawa State.
He noted that the party had successfully completed its membership registration exercise, congresses and primary elections across the state, describing the processes as important milestones in preparations for the 2027 general elections
.
According to him, despite logistical and manpower challenges encountered during the primaries, the exercise demonstrated the party's commitment to internal democracy, transparency and due process.
Shammah commended party members, aspirants, stakeholders and officials for their discipline and cooperation, which he said contributed to the peaceful conduct of the primaries.
While acknowledging complaints from some quarters, he urged both successful and unsuccessful aspirants to accept the outcomes of the elections in the spirit of sportsmanship and democratic practice.
The NDC chairman stated that the party had now entered a new phase of political mobilisation and organisation, with a renewed focus on strengthening grassroots structures and consolidating support across communities.
He charged party candidates and leaders to work together in providing polling unit agents and expanding the party's reach to rural areas, adding that discussions on operational strategies would continue during technical sessions.
Shammah further disclosed plans by the party to engage support groups and intensify media campaigns aimed at promoting voter awareness and increasing public recognition of the party's logo ahead of future elections.
The chairman also called on members to rally behind the party's candidate for the forthcoming Nasarawa North Senatorial District bye-election, Ishaya Dodo, describing the contest as a critical test of the party's growing popularity in the state.
He announced that the grand finale of the campaign would take place in Akwanga and expressed optimism that prominent national figures, including Henry Seriake Dickson, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, would attend the rally.
He urged party faithful to mobilise supporters in large numbers for the event.
Shammah concluded by expressing confidence in the future of the NDC, maintaining that the party remains united and committed to providing credible representation and positive leadership for Nigerians.
"Our party is preparing for a strong political future in Nasarawa State built on unity, hard work and credible representation. We remain focused on delivering results for the people," he said.
