The Maidunama Sickle Cell Foundation has reiterated its commitment to improving the lives of children and families affected by sickle cell disorder through sustained advocacy, medical support, education, and community outreach programmes.
The foundation stated that sickle cell disorder remains a major public health challenge in Nigeria and requires collective action from governments, healthcare providers, development partners, and community stakeholders to reduce its impact on affected individuals.
Speaking on the foundation's activities, officials emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, access to quality healthcare services, and increased public awareness as critical measures in addressing the burden of the disease.
According to the foundation, its interventions are focused on promoting awareness and education, facilitating access to medical support, providing counselling and care services, advocating for policies that improve patient welfare, and strengthening community engagement on sickle cell-related issues.

It called on citizens to embrace genotype testing before marriage and to support initiatives that promote awareness, prevention, and effective management of sickle cell disorder.
