Dr. Zakka Ledkwi Yakubu Declares Governorship Bid in Nasarawa
Ex-Permanent Secretary Pledges Jobs, Transparency, Inclusive Governance

A former Permanent Secretary in Nasarawa State, Dr. Zakka Ledkwi Yakubu, has formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship of the state, promising to deliver responsible leadership, economic growth, and inclusive governance.
In a declaration speech posted on his official Facebook handle, Yakubu said his decision followed extensive consultations with elders, community leaders, professionals, youth groups, and stakeholders across the state.
The governorship aspirant, who began his career in the Nasarawa State Civil Service in April 1998 as an Accountant II, rose through the ranks to become Director, Accountant General, and later Permanent Secretary.
He noted that his nearly three decades of experience in public service have equipped him with deep insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the state.
Yakubu described Nasarawa as a state endowed with abundant human and natural resources, stressing the need to harness these potentials for the benefit of citizens.
He outlined key priorities of his administration to include job creation, agricultural modernization, improved education and healthcare systems, as well as transparency and accountability in governance.
“We must build an economy that creates jobs for our youth, support our farmers, and ensure prudent management of public resources,” he stated.
He further pledged to focus on infrastructure development, including roads, water supply, and electrification, while promoting small businesses through access to finance and value-added production.
On governance, Yakubu assured that his administration would uphold fiscal discipline, open budgeting, and strict oversight to eliminate waste.
The aspirant also emphasized plans to invest in education, skills acquisition, and primary healthcare, particularly maternal and child health, alongside empowering women as key drivers of economic growth.
He assured that his leadership would be inclusive, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations, declaring his readiness to serve all citizens of Nasarawa State.
Yakubu added that he would embark on statewide consultations in the coming months to engage directly with residents and gather inputs toward shaping his policy direction.
He called on the people of the state to support his vision for responsible leadership and shared prosperity.
“May God bless Nasarawa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he concluded.
