Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Establishes SERVICOM Unit to Enhance Patient Satisfaction
CMD Dr. Esala Abene stresses transparency, efficiency; management tasks unit with hospital-wide sensitisation

Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Akwanga, has inaugurated a SERVICOM (Service Compact with Nigeria) Unit as part of efforts to improve service delivery and ensure patients receive quality, timely, and respectful healthcare services.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Esala E. Abene, recalled the introduction of SERVICOM under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004, noting that the initiative was designed to reposition public institutions for better service delivery.
He explained that within the hospital setting, SERVICOM is fundamentally aimed at achieving patient satisfaction through efficient and effective healthcare services, stressing that the establishment of the unit aligns with that objective.
Dr. Abene charged members of the unit to uphold transparency and ensure prompt service delivery across all departments. He further directed them to embark on sensitisation visits within the hospital to educate staff on their roles in promoting SERVICOM principles.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (C-MAC), Dr. Remini Kefas Machunga, commended the hospital management for the initiative, reiterating that patient satisfaction remains the central focus of SERVICOM.
She also underscored the importance of timely communication in healthcare delivery, noting that it is critical in saving lives and effectively managing emergencies.
The highlight of the event was the formal decoration of the head of the SERVICOM Unit with an official identification card, symbolising the commencement of the unit’s operations.
