2026 HAJJ: NIGER PILGRIMS BOARD FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF UNIFORMS, 8KG HAND LUGGAGE TO INTENDING PILGRIMS

In its move to ensure smooth and early preparation of commencement of airlift of pilgrims for intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise,the Niger State Pilgrims’Welfare Board,has formally flagged off the distribution of uniforms and 8Kg hand luggage to intending Pilgrims from the state.

The distribution signaling the commencement of airlift of the pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, alongside management of the Board and Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOS) flagged off the ceremony, Monday, 27th April, 2026 at the Board’s headquarters in Minna.

Speaking during the symbolic distribution, , the Executive Secretary, stated that the distribution of the items was in line with the Board’s commitment to early preparation and effective coordination of pilgrims. 

He explained that the uniforms was to ensure coordination and easy identification of Niger State Pilgrims, while the standardized 8kg hand luggage would help ensure compliance with international travel regulations; reflecting the commitment of the Niger State Government under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to improve the welfare of the pilgrims.

He commended Her Excellency, the Wife of the Executive Governor, Hajiya Fatima Muhammad Bago for always donating Hijabs for female pilgrims in the State, which he said is a great gesture to humanity.

Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu urged intending pilgrims to remain law-abiding and adhere strictly to the guidelines provided by the Board, stressing that the female pilgrims should ensure that all sewn clothes should be long and decent, in line with Islamic teachings and the Board’s code of conduct.

Speaking on behalf of the Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWO’s) the Chairman of the APWOS, Alhaji Abu Sufyan Sirsiri commended the Board for the timely distribution of the items, describing it as a morale booster to the Pilgrims and a sign of effective planning.

The Board therefore reiterated its readiness to ensure a seamless and spiritually fulfilling Hajj exercise for all registered pilgrims from the state, assuring that no effort would be spared in achieving a successful operation.
