The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has matriculated no fewer than 15,064 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational education in Nigeria.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Hauwa Tanko Mohammad, disclosed this while addressing the newly admitted students during the matriculation ceremony held at the institution’s Muhammadu Buhari Hall in Nasarawa.

Dr. Hauwa explained that the matriculation of the large number of students reflects the institution’s deliberate efforts to stimulate academic growth and expand educational opportunities.

She noted that the Polytechnic has established about 22 academic programmes across its various schools, aimed at equipping students with practical and industry-relevant skills.

According to her, the institution has also secured an increase in carrying capacity across all programmes, which has necessitated the recruitment of additional academic and non-academic staff to enhance teaching, learning, and service delivery.

The Rector further revealed that the Polytechnic has invested in improving student welfare through the provision of additional hostel facilities and the construction of new boreholes to ensure steady water supply on campus, thereby easing accommodation challenges and improving students’ comfort.

She emphasized that the Polytechnic maintains zero tolerance for social vices, including cultism, drug abuse, and examination malpractice, warning students to avoid any behavior capable of jeopardizing their academic pursuits.

Dr. Hauwa urged the matriculating students to remain focused and disciplined, while encouraging them to build meaningful networks, develop relevant skills, and take advantage of available opportunities that will make them competitive and relevant in the global labour market.

She congratulated the students on their successful admission and charged them to uphold the values and standards of the institution throughout their academic journey.
