The Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology, (FUT),Minna in Niger State,Prof.Faruk Adamu Kuta has disclosed that a total of one hundred and eleven graduates have bagged first class degrees from the University.
He stated that a total of 4,438 will graduate with first degree at the 43th and 45th founder day convocation ceremony slated for Sunday,1st Febuary ,2026.
Prof Faruq Adamu Kuta disclosed this at the convocation Pressbriefing held at the Academic Publishing Company of the University in Minna Monday.
He explained that out of the graduating students,73 of them will be awarded with post graduate Diploma,633 will be conferred with Master’s degrees while 153 others will receive (Phds).
According to the vice Chancellor, among the first degree graduates are 111 first class,1,525 second class Upper,2,134 second class lower,631 third class,and 37 pass degrees noting that the achievements brought to light the unwavering commitment to academic excellence despite prevailing challenges.
The past year, Prof Adamu Kuta disclosed that it has been remarkable for the institution, with notable accomplishments that further consolidate the outstanding among other universities in Nigeria.
He disclosed that in the 2026 Time Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings the Federal University of Technology (FUT), was ranked the 7th best university in Nigeria and emerged as the highest-ranked specialized university in the country.
Disclosing that the University researchers also distinguished themselves by securing the highest number of TETFund national research funds (NRF), grant in the 2024 grant cycle. High-impact Q1 Publications (58) and patents (7) were produced by our researchers.
“In recognition of these achievements,the University management formally honored the awardees. The University also secured a N1 billion TETfund Agricultural Commercial Farm Grant,posting us among ten beneficiary universities nationwide.
“ Furthermore, FUT,Minna attracted two major global research grants in 2025: $3 million ICT Development grant from Agence Francaise de Development and fifteen thousand pound sterling open Access Books grant from the United Kingdom” the Vice Chancellor disclosed.
Announcing the successful establishment of the College of medical sciences and Health Technology,Prof Faruq Kuta,said following the approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the pioneer students of the College have commenced academic activities in the 2025/2026 session across five of the medical colleges.
The college, according to him,includes,MBBS Medicine and surgery,Nursing science,Medical Laboratory science, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) Human Anatomy,physiology,Biotechnology,among others.
This development,he explained, is a response to Nigeria's critical healthcare manpower needs.
While commending the efforts of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, (CEO), BUA Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu (ASR) for the donation of a modern male medicals’ hostel,the Vice Chancellor also commended the governor of Niger State Mohammed Umar Bago,for supporting the construction of a dedicated female medical students’ hostel.
