Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State, has announced the nomination of Dr. Kashim Akor NPOM , FNIM for the conferment of a Meritorious Award in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic disposition and remarkable contributions to the development of the University.
The nomination was approved by the Governing Council and the University Senate of Prince Abubakar Audu University and formally conveyed through the Office of the Registrar.
The prestigious award will be presented during the University’s 7th Combined Convocation Ceremonies and 25th Anniversary Celebration, scheduled to hold from 21st to 24th January, 2026.
According to the official communication signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Barr. Yahaya Segun Alilu, Ph.D., the award acknowledges Dr. Akor’s unwavering support and significant impact on the growth and advancement of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.
“This recognition is in acknowledgement of your philanthropic disposition and outstanding contribution to the development of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba,” the letter stated.
The Award ceremony is scheduled to hold as follows:
Date: Saturday, 24th January, 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Venue: University Auditorium, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.
Prince Abubakar Audu University, on behalf of its Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students, conveyed its deep appreciation and extended assurances of the Vice-Chancellor’s esteemed regards to the award recipient.
The Meritorious Award is one of the University’s highest recognitions, reserved for individuals whose contributions have significantly enhanced the institution’s development, reputation, and service to society.

It should be recalled that Dr. Kashim Akor, former Director-General of the National Productivity Center (NPC), has made significant philanthropic contributions to Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba. These include the donation of solar-powered street lights to enhance campus security and sustainability; computers and other ICT facilities to support teaching, learning, and administrative functions; medical equipment and facilities to the University’s teaching hospital; laboratory equipment to strengthen research and practical training; as well as other critical facilities aimed at improving the overall academic and infrastructural development of the University.
