The Bauchi State Government has approved 100 per cent salary increment for doctors and other health workers in the state.

Briefing journalists shortly after the last SEC meeting in 2025, the state Commissioner of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Sani Dambam said that the salary increment would be complemented by the introduction of special allowances for health workers posted outside local government headquarters across the State.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the Council approved the implementation of outstanding promotions for over 2000 healthcare workers in the state.

According to him, the approval followed consideration of the recommendations of a special committee set up to assess the financial implications of a new scheme of service for healthcare workers.

The Commissioner explained that the outcome was the 100 per cent review of the existing scheme, marking one of the most significant welfare packages ever approved for the sector in the state.

He added that the decision was driven by the need to retain skilled medical personnel and improve healthcare delivery.

Dambam further said that as part of the package, the government approved peculiar allowances, including outside-posting allowances, designed to encourage Doctors and Health workers to accept and remain in postings outside metropolitan areas.

He added that healthcare workers under the State Primary Healthcare Development Board would also benefit from these peculiar allowances, ending years of disparity in welfare benefits.

The Commissioner also stated that the Council approved the clearance of outstanding promotion areas for healthcare workers, with no fewer than 2,000 workers expected to benefit from the exercise.

According to him, to further boost the morale of Doctors and Healthcare workers, the government approved access to car and housing loans, easing their financial burden and improving their quality of life.

As an accountability measure, Dambam revealed that biometric and verification systems would be introduced across health facilities to ensure transparency and effective service delivery.

Also speaking the Chief Economic Adviser to Governor Bala Muhammad, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Ningi, said Bauchi SEC  approved the sum of N900 million for the recapitalisation of the famous Yankari Savings and Loans, saying that the decision was taken due to the importance of the financial institution.

According to him, “The state government has approved the recapitalisation of the Bank with the sum of N900 million.”

He explained that the amount is not only enough, but will also enable the bank to expand and impact positively on the general economic wellbeing of Bauchi state through the normal banking services
