A political pressure group in Nasarawa State, the Nasarawa North Political Consultative Forum, has called for the zoning of the 2027 governorship election to the Nasarawa North Senatorial District, citing the need for equity, fairness and justice.

The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the forum’s expanded meeting held in Akwanga and jointly signed by Senator John Danboyi and Professor Ahmad Alizaga.

The forum appealed to all major political parties in the state to cede their gubernatorial tickets to the Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone in the 2027 general election, stressing that such a move would promote unity, inclusivity and harmonious development across the state.

According to the group, the demand is driven by patriotism and a quest for fairness, noting that Nasarawa North remains the only senatorial district in the state that has not produced a governor since the return to democratic governance in 1999.

The forum argued that zoning the governorship to the area in 2027 would not only address long-standing political imbalance but also give the people of the zone a stronger sense of belonging in the state’s political structure.

It further disclosed that stakeholders from Nasarawa North have resolved to speak with one voice and intensify engagement with political actors across the other senatorial districts to mobilise widespread support for the aspiration ahead of the 2027 polls.
