Ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders and residents of Lafia Central State Constituency have intensified calls on former lawmaker, Hon. Abdullahi Dahiru Angibi, to recontest and return to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, citing his experience, grassroots connection, and outstanding legislative record.
Community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and party faithful across Lafia Central say the constituency needs a tested and trusted hand to effectively represent its interests in the state legislature. According to them, Hon. Angibi’s previous tenure remains one of the most impactful in the constituency’s political history.

Speaking on behalf of the constituents, a coalition of ward leaders noted that Angibi distinguished himself through people-oriented legislation,

effective oversight functions, and consistent engagement with constituents while in office.

“Lafia Central needs a lawmaker who understands our challenges and has the courage and capacity to speak for us. Hon. Abdullahi Dahiru Angibi has done it before, and we want him back,” the group stated.

Residents recalled that during his time in the Assembly, Angibi facilitated developmental interventions, promoted peace and unity, and ensured that the voice of Lafia Central was heard in key legislative debates.

Many believe his absence has been felt, particularly in the areas of constituency advocacy and lawmaking effectiveness.

Youth leaders in the constituency also described Angibi as a mentor and bridge-builder, stressing that his return would inspire confidence among young people and deepen democratic participation at the grassroots level.

When contacted, Hon. Angibi expressed appreciation for the overwhelming show of support but maintained that consultations with stakeholders were ongoing.

He assured constituents that their calls would be given due consideration in the interest of unity and development.

Political observers note that the growing pressure from the grassroots could significantly shape the political landscape of Lafia Central as the 2027 elections draw nearer.

As momentum builds, the call for Hon. Abdullahi Dahiru Angibi’s return is fast becoming a dominant political conversation in Lafia Central, with many viewing him as the constituency’s best option for effective representation in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
