The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has charged security agencies to confront criminals across the country without any form of religious or ethnic bias.
Speaking at the 10th General Assembly of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) in Gbongan, Osun State, the Sultan condemned killings by terrorists and bandits, stressing that such acts have no link to Islam or any religion.
He dismissed claims of religious persecution in the country, describing them as attempts to sow discord among Nigerians.
“I have never seen a Christian denied the right to worship,” he said. “We live peacefully together, and we will not allow anyone to divide us.
Those killing people are not Muslims,they are criminals. Security operatives must arrest and deal decisively with criminals, regardless of their religion or tribe.”
The Sultan urged Nigerians to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders, saying the nation needs divine guidance for effective governance.
He also commended MUSWEN for promoting unity among Muslims in the Southwest and encouraged other regions to emulate their efforts.
At the event, 12 female medical students from the six southwestern states were awarded scholarships under the Sultan Abubakar Female Medical Students Scholarship Scheme.
