Nasarawa State Governor and Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has departed Abuja for Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend the 2025 G20 Summit.

The trip follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval for Governor Sule and eight other state governors to join the Presidential Delegation to the international summit, officials confirmed.

The 2025 edition of the G20 Summit, themed “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” will hold from 22nd to 23rd November, 2025, marking the first time the summit is hosted on African soil.

Preceding the main summit, the G20 Social Engagement Groups will hold breakaway meetings starting Wednesday, 19th November, 2025.

During the summit, Governor Sule is expected to meet with his counterparts from South Africa as well as leaders from other G20 member states, engaging on matters of mutual interest and economic cooperation.

Upon his return, the Governor will submit a report and an Action Plan to the Office of the President, detailing the outcomes of the summit and recommendations for implementation.

The G20 Summit serves as an international forum for economic cooperation, comprising 19 member countries, two regional bodies, the European Union and African Union, as well as other multilateral agencies.

Key topics slated for discussion include the global economy, trade, sustainable development, and climate change, among others, reflecting the summit’s focus on shared prosperity and inclusive growth.

Governor Sule’s participation underscores Nigeria’s active engagement in global economic discourse and the country’s commitment to sustainable development and international collaboration.

Officials from the Governor’s office described the trip as strategically important, highlighting the potential benefits for Nasarawa State and Nigeria in advancing economic and development partnerships with G20 member states.

The Governor’s office, through Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Addra, confirmed all arrangements for the trip were in place as of 18th November, 2025.
