The Speaker house of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen, Iyan Zazzau has concluded plans to empower 10,000 constituents with means of livelihood and enhance their businesses.
This is made know by the Chairman Zaria Local Government, Engineer Jamil Ahmad Muhammad aka Jaga while Speaking with Journalists in on the preparedness of event on Thursday.
He said that the gesture was part of the speaker's effort to improve the socio-economic status of people in Zaria federal constituency.
"Over 10,000 beneficiaries will receive different forms of support aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting small businesses." The Chairman said.
According to him, in the first phase of the empowerment programme, 1,500 women and youth will receive food items and ₦100,000–₦200,000 cash grants.
The chairman added that in the second phase a shoe-making skills programme would be rolled out to train participants with each receiving materials worth over ₦1 million to start their own business.
Engr Muhammad further stated that, 1,500 tailors will also be supported with industrial sewing machines to boost local fashion and enhance job creation.
"To strengthen agriculture, 4,000 dry-season farmers will receive solar-powered irrigation machines with dual 600-watt panels, while another 1,500 women will be empowered with grinding machines.
"Another set of 1,500 people will benefit with deep freezers to support their businesses." He said.
Engr Muhammad further explained that over 2,000 farmers will be provided with modern agricultural equipment, including tractors, combined threshers, haulage tricycles, and knapsack sprayers, to promote mechanized and efficient farming in Zaria federal constituency.
The Local Boss noted that a week back, the Speaker provided beans and ₦20,000 cash empowerment to some selected women to aid their akara business.
Engr Muhammad noted that the Speaker's empowerment initiative was already changing the lives of the beneficiaries, with many expressing applause on the kind gesture.
