The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education has applauded the Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya, for returning N125 million in unspent funds to the state government after completing scholarship disbursement to eligible students.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued in Lafia by the Committee Chairman and Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala.
According to Bala, the committee holds Yahaya’s action as a rare demonstration of uncommon transparency, integrity, and patriotism, noting that her decision to refund the substantial balance reinforces public confidence in the management of state resources.
“Virtues such as this are rare, and individuals who exhibit this level of honesty deserve to be entrusted with public responsibility,” the statement read. “This gesture has gone down in history, and you will always be remembered for good.”
The committee further described her conduct as a model for public office holders, emphasizing that her commitment to accountability reflects genuine love for the state.
Bala, speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Principal Officers, and members of the committee, assured Yahaya of their full support as she continues to deliver on her mandate.
“We salute your dedication and service to the state. Be assured that we shall stand by you at all times,” the statement added.
