Bauchi Governor Presents ₦878bn 2026
The Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, has presented the 2026 proposed budget of over ₦878 billion, with 65% allocated to capital expenditure and 35% to recurrent expenditures to the State House of Assembly for approval
The proposed budget represents an increase of more than 40% compared to the 2025 budget, which recorded a performance rate of 79.1%.
Muhammad stated that the capital expenditure is N567,460, 216,613.15 representing 65 per cent of the total budget proposal while the recurrent expenditure stands at N310,686,291, 261.40, representing 35 per cent of the budget.
He explained that the proposed 2026 budget is 41.0 percent higher than the 2025 budget as well as the supplementary budget presented within the year and considered by the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the increase is due to the anticipated rising cost of services resulting from the tax reform expected to take effect in January 2026.
He also said that his administration therefore adopted a conservative approach to ensure appropriate costing and proper capturing of government programmes and projects for realistic implementation.
Responding, the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Sulaiman, assured speedy passage of the budget and urged ministries and parastatals to support the respective House Committees in delivering their constitutional duties
