Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Saturday described himself as the “highest-ranked Christian in government,” attributing his political elevation to the special grace of God.

Akpabio made the remark during the blessing and inauguration of the Regina Coeli Parish Rectory in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, an event attended by top clergy and political dignitaries.

Reflecting on what he called his journey “from nobody to the number-three citizen,” the Senate President said his rise in public service was a manifestation of divine favour.

In a statement by his media aide, Akpabio emphasized his strong ties with the Catholic Church, despite relating with all Christian denominations.

He urged Nigerians to deepen their devotion to God and continue supporting the growth of churches across the country, adding that “no contribution is too small to be accepted by God.”

Akpabio also disclosed plans for the commissioning of a new worship centre within the National Assembly complex in Abuja, part of efforts to strengthen spiritual life among lawmakers.

The Senate President encouraged citizens to remain steadfast in faith, stressing that service to God remains vital regardless of social status or political office.
