Nasarawa’s political landscape shook to its core on Saturday as an unprecedented crowd poured into the streets of Lafia, chanting one message with thunderous clarity: “ Shehu Ahmed Tukur must run!”

The mobilisation event, tagged “Call to Serve Rally,” quickly transformed into a mass uprising of supporters, stakeholders and grassroots leaders who insisted that the seasoned technocrat must enter the 2027 governorship race.

Leading the charge, Abdullahi Yanmani, Director General of the ASAT Vanguard, declared that Nasarawa State stands at a crossroads, and that only Tukur possesses the depth, stability, and developmental vision needed for the next chapter.

“This is not just a rally; it is a statewide awakening,” Yanmani proclaimed to roaring applause. “Tukur’s leadership footprint spans nearly three decades. He is the one constant in Nasarawa’s story of progress.”

Yanmani reminded the crowd that Tukur has been at the centre of every major project since the state’s creation in 1996, working hand-in-hand with all former military administrators and every civilian governor.

He reeled out Tukur’s signature achievements:

  • Redesigning and reconstructing the Government House and Presidential Lodge
  • Delivering modern markets across multiple LGAs
  • Building strategic transport and commercial hubs, including the Lafia and Karu bus terminals

The atmosphere surged again when Yanmani described Tukur as “the bridge between experience and the future.” He said the state’s stability, growth and unity may depend on his acceptance to run.

Coordinators of the ASAT Vanguard from Awe, Doma and Obi LGAs amplified the call, warning that without Tukur’s expertise, the progress recorded under Governor Abdullahi Sule could lose momentum.

“Nasarawa needs continuity. Nasarawa needs competence. Nasarawa needs Tukur,” one coordinator declared.

By the end of the rally, one thing was unmistakable:
A political movement has been born, loud, organised and unwavering in its demand that Ahmed Tukur step forward and lead.
