The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, has been honoured with the Best Performing Senator of the Year award at the Democracy Heroes Award Africa 2025, in recognition of his outstanding legislative performance, visionary leadership, and commitment to national unity and development.
The prestigious award, themed “Legacy of Leadership: Powering Africa’s Future,” celebrates exceptional African leaders who have demonstrated excellence in governance and contributed meaningfully to democratic growth across the continent. The event is scheduled to hold at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, and will attract top government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and civil society advocates.
According to a statement signed by Michael Ogar, Media Consultant to Senator Nwoko, the Delta-born lawmaker was described as a symbol of good governance and one of the most dynamic legislators in the 10th Senate, whose dedication to service and reform continues to inspire confidence in Nigeria’s democracy.
The statement reads in part:
“Senator Nwoko earned the recognition for exemplary representation and measurable impact in legislative governance. His contributions have strengthened democratic institutions, advanced public welfare, and inspired a new generation of political leaders across Africa.”
A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Nwoko has been a consistent advocate for education reform, youth empowerment, agricultural innovation, and equitable federal representation. He is also a leading voice for the creation of Anioma State, which he believes will correct Nigeria’s longstanding geopolitical imbalance and promote greater national cohesion.
The statement further noted that Senator Nwoko’s growing list of both local and international honours underscores his enduring belief that leadership must serve humanity above politics.
“His unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, transparency, and people-oriented development continues to distinguish him as an asset to nation-building,” the statement added.
The Democracy Heroes Award Africa, now in its 13th edition, remains one of the continent’s most respected platforms celebrating leadership excellence and democratic values.
Highlight of the ceremony includes a red-carpet reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by the main award event at 7:00 p.m., with attendance from prominent figures across Africa.
