Women have been urged to sustain their resilience, unity, and drive for excellence in their respective careers to foster societal progress and gender inclusion.
This call was made during the opening ceremony of the Zone D Executive Council (ZEC) meeting of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), held on Thursday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
She noted that excelling in a male-dominated world requires focus, commitment, and perseverance, urging women to remain steadfast in their efforts.
Ogbeche commended the Nasarawa State Government for giving women, particularly female journalists, opportunities to serve in key positions.
She also appreciated men who are championing the cause of women, promising that NAWOJ will continue to use its platforms to celebrate women breaking barriers and to inspire younger girls to follow their footsteps.
She further emphasized that when women have access to quality education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, they become strong agents of growth and stability within their communities.
Also speaking, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Haj. Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, represented by her Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Mr. Nasir Zakari, encouraged women to mentor, support, and empower one another.
She said women in leadership positions are playing vital roles in promoting social cohesion, addressing inequalities, and ensuring gender-sensitive policymaking.
The Minister commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for implementing numerous initiatives to empower women and assured that more programmes are being developed to further enhance their participation in national development.
In her remarks, the Nasarawa State Head of Civil Service, Barr. Abigail Waya, applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for his inclusive leadership style and for appointing many women into sensitive government positions.
She praised women who have excelled in different sectors, noting that resilience is a key factor for success both in career and family life. Waya further commended women journalists for their professionalism, describing their growing influence in the media as a source of pride and inspiration.
“In the past, few women ventured into journalism, but today we are proud of the remarkable impact female journalists are making across media platforms,” she stated.
