The ongoing expansion of Nigerian College of Aviation Technology's Runway has advanced stage completion will address the Aircraft congestion at Kaduna international airport when it is put into use.
The Rector of the School Dr Isma'il Danjuma Adamu dropped the hint in an exclusive Telephone phone interview with our Correspondent in Zaria on Thursday.
He said that the runway when completed within shortest possible period would accommodate larger aircrafts for commercial purpose.
Dr Adamu said "This initiative is designed to alleviate air traffic congestion at Kaduna Airport by enhancing the capacity of its aging runway, originally constructed in the 1960s, which has experienced increased strain due to growing aircraft operations.
The Rector added that the extended runway will also accommodate both training activities and increased airport traffic, including the possibility of night training that was previously restricted because of runway limitations.
"This runway extension is part of NCAT’s broader effort to improve its infrastructure and facilities, including upgrades to simulators, training equipment, and the establishment of new training centers in Abuja and Lagos.
"The Federal Government has allocated funding for this important project, with strong support from the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria, especially the Speaker Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen PhD GCON, who has been instrumental in facilitating federal backing. These developments are crucial to maintaining NCAT's status as a leading aviation training institution in Nigeria and across Africa.
"This runway expansion is integral to NCAT's strategic plan to position itself as a premier aviation training hub on the continent, capable of training pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation professionals with state-of-the-art facilities that meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards."
