The kaduna State based NGO on Girls' Child Education under the eagies of Centre for Girls' Child Education, Zaria has commemorated the day by organizing a Girls' Education Summit theme "The Girl I am, the Change I lead: Girls on the Frontlines of crises" where all Education stakeholders were brought together to brainstorm on Girls' education, held Abdullahi Mahdi Conference Centre, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria on Thursday.
Various programs of the centre were showcased during occasion which include, EmpowerHer Education, Mass project, PSS Project , G4E H project,.
Others are AGILE (Girls), ABVT Project, Pathways to Choice, AGILE (Boys), CMP and CGE interns
Speaking at the event the Executive Director of the centre, Professor Habiba
Muhammad advocated for 12 years of free, safe, quality and compulsory education for Girls Child and institutionalization of life Skills into regular Schools curricular.
She said that the event was to commemorate the day and honour resilience, courage and potential of Girls Worldwide.
Prof Muhammad complained that in times of crisis Girls often face challenges which may force to be School dropped out, make them early marriage Victim and or become vulnerable to exploration.
She said "today we celebrate the Girls who refused to defined by their circumstances, instead they are using their voices, Skills and determination to drive positive change.
Professor Muhammad further pointed out that Every Girl no matter what where she come from deserved the chance to learn, dream and thrive. Adding "we believe that when girls are educated and empowered they don't just rise they lift other up as they rise"
The Don stated "At the centre for Girls' Child Education we also believe that Education is powerful tools for girls to become agents of change. Through our programs for girls and women, we empower them with the knowledge, Skills, voices, agency and confidence to lead their communities towards a brighter future.
"With this summit we celebrate the power and promises of girls and affirm their rights to education, health and economic opportunity. Let's recognize the critical role girls play in resilient communities,"
Also speaking at the occasion member Kaduna State of Assembly representing Zaria constituency and Chairman of the house committee on education, Barr Mahmud isma'il Lawal aka Bola Ige said that the priority of Kaduna state Governor, Senator Mallam Uba Sani was education.
He said that there was immense improvement in the state's education sector as it was glaring tha teachers of both Secondary and Primary Schools no longer have the fear of been sacked by Government unlike before.
The lawmaker added that in the effort of Mallam Uba Sani led administration all Teachers in the state would enjoy the minimum wage soon after their screening.
"Before December quite number of existing Schools would be renovated to standard level and new ones would constructed where they are required."
