Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on alumni associations across the state to make meaningful contributions toward the development of their alma maters, stressing that such interventions are vital to strengthening the education sector.
Speaking at the 2025 National Convention of the Lafia Old Students Association (LOSA), themed “Celebrating Unity, Legacy and Progress", Governor Sule lauded the association’s remarkable infrastructural projects at Government Science School, Lafia. The event also featured the commissioning of multiple landmark facilities.
The governor praised LOSA’s National President, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, for providing exemplary leadership and mobilizing resources to restore the school’s lost glory.
He urged other alumni bodies to emulate LOSA’s initiative in complementing government’s efforts to create a conducive learning environment.
“I congratulate the principal, teachers, students, and all LOSA members. Let us sustain these gains and embrace a culture of maintenance to preserve them,” Governor Sule said.
Dr. Shuaib, former Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, detailed LOSA’s recent projects, including solar-powered boreholes, a generating set, basketball and volleyball courts, a clinic, science laboratories, a mini-shopping mall, the LOSA National Secretariat, an administrative block, an examination hall, and extensive landscaping.
He attributed the successes to the collective commitment of members, while acknowledging support from Governor Sule, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I (Rtd.), and the Esu Karu, Pharm. Luka Panya Baba.
In his goodwill message, the Emir of Lafia, a 1974 graduate of the school, commended Dr. Shuaib for his unwavering dedication to advancing the institution’s legacy.
During the association’s expanded Annual General Meeting, members unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Dr. Shuaib’s leadership, reelecting him for another three-year term.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Shuaib expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him, pledging to surpass members’ expectations in the years ahead.
