Retired Inspector General of Police, Sir (Dr.) Mike Okiro, CFR, NPM, mni, has successfully reconciled the lingering divisions that had threatened the unity of the South-South community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The community had been deeply polarized in recent times by internal disputes and leadership tussles.
However, through dialogue, statesmanship, and his commitment to peacebuilding, Okiro facilitated reconciliation among stakeholders, bringing the once divided groups back under one umbrella.
Speaking during the peace resolution, Okiro reminded members of the community that unity is essential for progress.
“What binds us together as a people is far stronger than what divides us.
Today, I am glad to say that the South-South community in Abuja stands united again.
With this unity, we can achieve greater heights and ensure that our people continue to contribute meaningfully to national growth,” he said.
Community leaders have described his intervention as timely and commendable.
Chief Bello Premier applauded Okiro’s fatherly role in fostering peace, while Mr. Dickson Omoregie praised his selfless leadership, noting that it restored confidence among members of the community.
Okiro, Nigeria’s 13th Inspector General of Police and pioneer of the Niger Delta Amnesty Program, has once again demonstrated his capacity to build peace, unite communities, and promote development.
With the resolution of the crisis, the South-South community in Abuja is now poised to move forward in peace, unity, and collective progress.
