The Benue Investment and Property Company, BIPC in North Central Nigeria has reaffirmed it's commitment to take the lead in the production of fruit juice concentrates and bio-gas production from fruit residue in the country.
Group Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha gave the assurance on Monday while receiving foreign partners, SONO Group Global Company of Brazil, who are in Benue to revitalize moribund Juice Company located in Makurdi, the state Capital.
Dr. Asemakaha, highlighted SONO's reputation as one of the world's leading companies with an impressive profit balance of over 60.6 million Euros, placing them as a tier 1 company globally.
He emphasized that the partnership with the Brazilian company represents a significant milestone in the state's efforts to enhance the value of its oranges.
Dr. Asemakaha emphasized that the collaboration between BIPC and their investors, Sono and Picama Group, which is set to last for 15 years, marks a new chapter in their endeavours to reduce post-harvest losses and stimulate the State's economy.
He stated, that "By investing in our orange produce, these investors are not only creating a stable market for our farmers but also helping to reduce post-harvest losses by up to 80%".
He expressed the optimism that "This will lead to increased farmers' income and livelihoods, create job opportunities for our young population, and improve the overall efficiency of our agricultural operations.
The BIPC MD maintained that the fruit Juice Company when fully operational will contribute to the growth and development of the state's economy, boost its GDP, and keep cash circulating within the system.
"This partnership showcases the potential for collaboration and innovation in our state's agricultural sector.
"I urge our farmers and orange association to work hand in hand to ensure the success of this initiative. By the end of October, no orange will leave Benue State as we will purchase 100% of the produce."
Chairman of SONO Group Global Company, Mr. Luiz Arenac, expressed his confidence in the resources available in the state, assuring that they will maintain the same quality and standards as in Europe.
"We will spare no effort to bring this industry to life. In no time, we will see Nigerian juice in the global market," He promised.
