The Nasarawa State Government has commenced a massive ₦9 billion road project as part of its renewed commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving economic connectivity across the state.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transport, Hon. Muazu Adamu Gosho, during the August edition of the Ministerial and MDAs Media Briefing held at the Nigerian Broadcasting Service (NBS) studio in Lafia.
According to Gosho, the Wamba-Waiye-Dengi-Alizaga Hills Ring Road, spanning 24.5 kilometers, is a high-impact project already flagged off by the government.
He revealed that contractors have fully mobilized to site, with the road slated for completion within 12 months.
The commissioner emphasized that the project is designed to open up economic opportunities and enhance movement within the region.
In addition to the flagship project, Gosho stated that the administration remains focused on executing more people-oriented infrastructure, including the construction and rehabilitation of bridges, rural and intercity roads, and dams across Nasarawa.
Providing updates on other key roads, Gosho disclosed that the Ekye–Rukubi Road is receiving serious government attention, adding that construction work is set to begin soon to address long-standing transportation challenges in the area.
He also assured that work on the Abdullahi Adamu Estate, Shinge Road, a long-deplored stretch in Lafia, will commence shortly and will be completed before the end of the Engineer Abdullahi Sule-led administration.
Reacting to claims that the newly commissioned Lafia Flyover and Underpass had collapsed, Gosho dismissed the rumors as “frivolous and mischievous,” asserting that the structures are intact and safe for public use.
Also speaking during the session, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, reiterated that the state government is committed to transparency and citizen engagement.
He said the media briefing is part of deliberate efforts to keep the public informed about government policies and developmental strides.
