The newly appointed Rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, Dr. Nurudeen Muazu Maifata, has officially assumed office, promising to lead with integrity, inclusiveness, and accountability.

In a statement issued by the institution’s Directorate of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Maifata expressed profound gratitude to the Visitor to the Polytechnic and Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, for the opportunity to serve.

He called on all members of the Polytechnic community to forgive past differences, unite, and work together to advance the institution.

“Let us forgive, forget, and forge ahead. We must come together as one to move this institution to greater heights,” Dr. Maifata urged.

He stated that his administration will be anchored on 21st-century leadership values—driven by technology, transparency, and professional ethics—with a clear commitment to nurturing a conducive environment for staff and students to thrive.

The new Rector commended the Prof. Muhammad Sanusi Liman-led Governing Council for standing on the side of truth and pledged to consolidate on the foundations already laid.

Outgoing Acting Rector, Dr. Dauda Ibrahim, in his remarks, congratulated Dr. Maifata and praised his legacy as a former acting Rector, noting that his achievements during the interim leadership were built on structures earlier initiated by Dr. Maifata himself.

Goodwill messages were delivered by key academic stakeholders, including the Chairman of ASUP, Dr. Ilah Obadiah; Dean, School of Communication Technology, Mrs. Florence Alu; Director of Linkages and Advancement, Dr. Abubakar Okuwa; and HOD of Architectural Technology, ESV Ayeni Ekundayo—all pledging support to the new Rector.

Dr. Maifata, an Associate Professor and immediate past Polytechnic Librarian, emphasized that his tenure will prioritize competence, equity, and sustainable institutional reform.

The handover ceremony was attended by senior Polytechnic officials including the Registrar, Zamani Habu Ibrahim, the Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Mukhtar Wakeel, and the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Bureau for Rural Development, Engr. Muhammad Sidi Sani, among others.

The Polytechnic community looks forward to a new chapter of innovation and progress under Dr. Maifata’s leadership.
