It was a night of glory, grit, and golden rewards as Agulo Seite Boxing Club was crowned champions of the Yucateco Boxing League Season Two, taking home a whopping ₦50 million after a pulsating finale on Monday evening.
The final showdown, held at the Shagamu City Arena, brought together hundreds of fans, stakeholders, and top contenders for what has been described as the most competitive Olympic-style boxing league ever held in Africa.
Over 300 boxers from 12 accredited clubs competed in more than 520 bouts during the league, which began in August 2024, traversing various locations across Nigeria.
BOXING’S NEW KINGS OF THE RING
Agulo Seite BC claimed victory after narrowly edging out Ogbas Families Boxing Club in a heated race for the title.
Although both teams ended with equal points after the penultimate bout in Ijebu-Igbo, Agulo Seite emerged champions based on the number of fights won throughout the season.
In addition to the team prize, individual boxers who emerged victorious in 13 weight categories each received ₦2 million, while runners-up and third-place finishers earned ₦1 million and ₦500,000 respectively.
MVP DAHUNSI GOES HOME WITH LAND IN LAGOS
The coveted Most Valuable Boxer (MVP) award went to Samuel Dahunsi of Ogbas Families BC, whose electrifying performance earned him a plot of land worth ₦20 million in Ikorodu, Lagos.
“This is truly a defining moment in my career,” Dahunsi said after receiving the keys. “The Yucateco League has placed me on a path of purpose, and I am grateful to the organisers for believing in our talent.”

Fausat Deinde, founder of Agulo Seite Boxing Club, attributed her team’s success to discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
“This wasn’t an easy feat. We trained hard and remained focused. The goal now is to retain the title next season,” she stated.
PROMOTER IMADU PROMISES MORE INNOVATIONS, EYES BOXING FEDERATION SEAT
Chief Executive Officer of Yucateco Boxing Promotions, Hon. Omolei Imadu, said over ₦100 million was disbursed in cash and property prizes in the just-concluded season.
“This league has proven that boxing can be professional, exciting, and financially rewarding in Nigeria. I am committed to taking it even further,” Imadu said.
Imadu also announced his intention to contest for a seat on the Nigeria Boxing Federation board in the forthcoming elections, promising to drive more developmental programs for young boxers nationwide.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOXING IN NIGERIA?
To maintain momentum, Yucateco Promotions will introduce a pioneering Inter-Local Government Boxing Tournament this July, with Fight Night showcase events scheduled for Ogun and Ekiti States ahead of Season Three in October.
“Our mission is simple , keep these athletes active and inspired all year round,” Imadu added.
