The 7th Nasarawa State House of Assembly has announced the passage of 21 bills and 41 resolutions since its inauguration two years ago, marking significant strides in legislative activity and governance.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, made this known during plenary on Wednesday, as the Assembly concluded its second legislative session and proceeded on its annual end-of-year recess.
Dr. Jatau commended members of the House for their unwavering commitment, unity, and synergy, describing the 7th Assembly as one of the most effective and result-driven in the state's legislative history.
“Since inception, we have passed a total of 21 bills—comprising 17 executive bills and 4 private member bills—as well as 41 resolutions, all geared towards the development of our dear state,” the Speaker stated.
He lauded members for maintaining integrity, professionalism, and mutual cooperation, which he said contributed to the Assembly’s success. He further pledged to continue operating an inclusive and transparent leadership style to foster growth and good governance across the state.
Dr. Jatau also reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to continue its robust collaboration with the executive and judiciary, pledging ongoing legislative support for Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.
> “We remain committed to partnering with His Excellency and all stakeholders in ensuring legislative backing for impactful policies and programs,” he added.
In a related development, the House during the same sitting passed into first reading a bill titled:
“A Bill for a Law to Establish the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Akwanga 2025, and for Other Matters Connected Therewith.”
The motion for the bill's first reading was moved by Majority Leader Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara and seconded by Minority Leader Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba. The Speaker scheduled July 14, 2025, for its second reading, coinciding with the Assembly's return from recess.
The Speaker also reassured Assembly staff of the legislature’s continuous effort to improve welfare and working conditions.
As the House embarks on its legislative break, members are expected to resume on July 14, 2025, to continue their legislative duties.
