With 32 aspirants already indicating interest to succeed Governor Abdullahi Alhaji Sule, Nasarawa State stands at the threshold of what may become one of its most competitive and consequential elections since the return to democracy in 1999.

The diversity of those seeking office , spanning politicians, professionals, entrepreneurs, and retired security officers , is a welcome development. It shows that public leadership is no longer the exclusive domain of career politicians.

It also affirms that Nasarawa's democratic space is expanding, inclusive, and increasingly reflective of society’s varied talents.
However, as the campaigns intensify, we must caution against two extremes: the over, glorification of elite titles and the reduction of serious contenders to mere political symbols.

Whether an aspirant is a retired general, a market union leader, or a public servant, what should matter most to the electorate is the clarity of their ideas, the credibility of their record, and their ability to deliver real progress.

Whoever emerges as the next governor must be ready to continue with the development strides of Governor Abdullahi Sule, whose administration has made visible efforts in infrastructure expansion, investment attraction, and governance reforms.

The people of Nasarawa deserve a leader who will consolidate on those gains while introducing fresh initiatives that address emerging needs.

As a media platform committed to responsible journalism, Rimawa Global News urges all aspirants to rise above sentiments, division, and empty sloganeering.
Let them tell the people what they will do, how they will do it, and why they are best suited for the task.

Likewise, we urge political parties to prioritize transparency in their primaries, and for citizens to begin engaging with the issues , not personalities.
The 2027 elections must be a referendum on the future, not a recycling of familiar names.

Let the best ideas win.
