Minna Court Remands Shabu Community Leader, Two Others Over Alleged Theft of Solar Borehole Project

A Minna Chief Magistrate court Number One has ordered the remand of a Community leader of Shabu  area of Chanchaga local government of Niger State Abdullahi Inuwa and two members of his subjects inCorrectional Custody for theft of Solar  Motorized borehole provided for the benefit of his Community.

The Niger State governor Mohammed Umar Bago was said to have provided the solar motorize borehole to the community to alleviate the perennial scarcity of water in the community..

Men of the  Anti kidnapping squad of the Niger State Police Command led by DSP Ahmed Saidu recieved a distressed call from the members of the community that  some youths in  Shanu village were Threatening to abduct the Community leader (Mai Angwan)  Abdullahi Inuwa.

Upon the recieved of the distressed call DSP Ahmed Saidu swiftly drafted his  Operatives to the community and effected the arrest of the Ward head and two of his subjects.

It was gathered that  the borehole the Community leader along with his two other subjects vandalized the borehole valued at five million Naira and sold it to a scavenger in  (Yan gwogwoni) at the rate of nine hundred and fifty thousand naira (N950,000)

Arraigning them in court, the police slammed them with four count charges which according to the police Prosecutor Inspector Bello Mohammed Beji, included Criminal Conspiracy, Mischief, Theft,and Criminal Misapriopriation .

According to the Police Prosecutor,the four count charges were punishable under sections  97,327,286 and 309 of the Penal Code.

On the 12th of May,2025, a formal complaint was lodged before the Minna Chief Magistrate court Number One situated at the High court headquarters in Minna by five members of the community that "you  Alhaji Abdullahi Inuwa (Mai Angwan), Adamu Ibrahim, Isyaku Tanko Hadiza Ladidi Abubakar all of Dutsenkura Gwari village and you Daddy Jammilu  now at large conspired among yourselves and away,with one Motorized Solar bore-hole.

" The Motorized Solar bore-hole situated at Kwasau donated by Niger State Goverment for the benefit of Kwasau in general and you conspired among yourselves and sold it to scavenger (Yan gwogwoni) at the rate (N950,000)"

When the charges were read to them, by the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed,they all Pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Police Prosecutor Inspector Bello Mohammed told the court that Investigation into the case is ongoing and the police are still on the trail of the remaining Suspects that  are on the run. 

He then prayed for adjougnment and asked the court remand them in Correctional Custody pending the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed then granted the prayers of the Prosecutor and adjougned the case to 27th of June while she ordered for their remand at the Minna Federal Correctional Custody.
