Governor Abdullahi Sule, alongside the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Nasarawa State, Barr. Isaac Danladi, and other top state officials, participated in a high-level roundtable on catalyzing renewable energy growth in the state.
The event, themed “Catalyzing Renewable Energy Growth through Research, Development, and Innovation in Nasarawa State Electricity Market,” was held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. It brought together policymakers, researchers, investors, and energy experts to deliberate on strategies to drive innovation and sustainable electricity access in Nasarawa.
A major highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) of Nigeria and the Nasarawa State Government.
The agreement is designed to foster long-term collaboration on tailored electrification strategies, with a focus on developing and operating decentralized solar power systems in rural, underserved communities.
Governor Sule, who led the state delegation, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to achieving energy sustainability and inclusive economic growth. He emphasized that the MoU aligns with his government’s broader vision for infrastructure development and service delivery.
Barr. Isaac Danladi’s presence reinforced the government’s legal commitment to creating a regulatory environment that encourages innovation and investment in the energy sector.
Other dignitaries in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Labaran Magaji, PhD; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gomna; Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Hon. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed; as well as some lawmakers from the state.
Participants expressed confidence that the outcomes of the roundtable would accelerate the state’s energy transition, enhance power access, and spur economic transformation across Nasarawa.
