A Minna Chief Magistrate court Number One, sitting at the State High Court Complexe Friday, Witnessed a scene created by a 24 year old miscreant as he bursted into tears when the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed ordered for his remand in correctional custody.
The Operatives of the CP Mornitory squad of the Niger State Police Command carried out an aggressive raid in some part of Minna and its environs and effected the arrest of some numbers of miscreants.
Among them, the Police authority in Minna charged one Mansur Kabir a 24 years old miscreant known for his notoriety in dispossesing residents of Minna their belongings which includes Iphone, Laptop and promax valued N1.150,000.
He was arrigned on nine count charges which bothered on Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal trespass causing grevious hurt,theft, inciting Public disturbance, disturbance of Public peace and belonging to unlawful assembly of thurgs.
According to the charge sheet marked; MN/CMC/CR/15/2025. the count charges are punishable under section 97,348,248,287,327,114,113,185 and section 34 B of the Niger State law prohibiting thuggery 2018.
The Police Prosecutor Inspector Aliyu Yakubu Kuta had told the court that on the 18 of April,2025, "at about 1043 hrs,one Nura Yarima of Tudun Fulani area of Minna was in his business centre situated at Sani Basket Plaza Bosso Road Minna.
" You Mansur Kabir, and six others now at large conspired among yourselves and intentionally attacked Nura Yarima, gave him a series fist blow inflicted injuries on his face,mouth and eye thereby left him unconscious on the ground until you were arrested by the police.
"During Police Investigation you freely confessed to the crime and further investigation revealed that all of you followed the complainant to his neighbor's shop,beat him and damaged his motors and one HP jet 800 machine all valued N3,270,000 and stole his I-Phone m Promax valued N1,150,000." the Prosecutor told the court.
When the charges were read to him by the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed, he pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Prosecutor Inspector Aliyu Yakubu Kuta, further told the court that the Investigation in to the matter is is still ongoing and prayed the court to remand the defendant in Correctional Custody as " some of the offences are not ordinarily bailable".
While granting the prayer of the Police Prosecutor, the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed then pronounced his remand in Correctional Custody and adjourned the case to 26th of May,2025 for further mention.
The defendant however, created a dramatic scene in the Courtroom upon the pronouncement of his remand by the Chief Magistrate bursted into tears uncontrollably.
