The 2025 edition of the Omele Cultural Festival held at the Abaga Palace in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area, was chaired by the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who was ably represented at the event by the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi.
Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Governor, Barr. Danladi expressed profound appreciation to the Gwandara people for the honour bestowed on Dr. Akabe to chair the culturally significant event.
He conveyed the Deputy Governor’s goodwill message, calling on all ethnic groups in the state to embrace unity, peace, and oneness in the collective pursuit of progress and development.
Dr. Akabe, through his representative, emphasized that cultural festivals like Omele serve as vital platforms for preserving identity, promoting social harmony, and engaging the youth positively.
He lauded the organizers and traditional leaders for their commitment to cultural preservation and peaceful coexistence.
Barr. Danladi also personally commended the Gwandara community of Kokona for their unwavering dedication to upholding their cultural heritage.
He singled out the Abaga of Toni, His Royal Highness, for his exemplary leadership and tireless efforts in sustaining the values and traditions of his people.
The festival featured traditional dances, musical performances, masquerade displays, and a vibrant gathering of dignitaries, cultural groups, and community stakeholders from across Nasarawa State and beyond.
