YORUBA CHIEFS TO ASSIST IN TACKLING INSECURITY IN NORTH

Council of northern yoruba traditional Obas has vowed to partner government at all levels to work out lasting solutions to the region's insecurity.

The council also expressed resolve to collaborate with northern Emirs and traditional title holders in an effort to securing lasting peace and stability of the region. 

The new chairman of the council, Alhaji Murtala Sani Adeleke made the commitment during the 26th Northern Yoruba Obas Meeting held in Zaria.

The chairman of the council which comprised all the 19 northern states and FCT yoruba Obas said the council has been contributing it's quota in ensuring sustainable peace in the north and pledged to do more by partnering with the Northern holders at all levels to restore back the stable nature of the region.

The Oba who expressed displeasure of the Obas on the high level of insurgency and terrorism in some part of the north, appreciated the commitment of security agencies in dowsing the prevailing tension.

He urged them to redouble their commitment to strategically flush out the miscreants terrorizing the region.

Oba Adeleke who  also the Oba Yoruba of Funtua and elected newly expressed commitment to project the council by working in concert with the Obas in the southern part of the country to achieve more desired results.

He however frowned at the existence of a parallel organization established to undermined the council, stressing that "they will be cut to size and reduce to their proper level.

Adeleke expressed delight over the mandate given him to lead the association and assured commitment to move the council to greater height.

Also speaking the Vice chairman, Oba Yoruba of Kano, Engineer Dr. Murtala Alimi Otisese while expressing delight on his election, pledged to work tirelessly in boosting the social wellbeing of not only the yorubas but the host community and Nigeria as whole.

The meeting had in attendance most of the yoruba Obas from the 19 northern states and Abuja with an election of new executive that climaxed the occasion.
