Member Representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives Abuja Hon. Dalyop Fom has organised a three-day training and empowerment program of over 400 constituents who are mostly youths, women, widows, and victims of insurgency in the Federal Constituency.
The program, held at Gwol Motel, Barkin-Ladi, at the weekend was aims to equip beneficiaries with skills in various vocations such as tailoring, fashion design, barbing, hair dressing, soap making, oil extraction, and garment production.
Hon. Fom while presenting the beneficiaries with materials and equipment, said he it would enable them to practice their newfound skills and earn a living.
According to him he initiated the empowerment program to improved the livelihoods of his constituents and providing various forms of support, including, Financial assistance to petty traders and small business owners, as well as distributed Agricultural inputs and tools for farmers.
The Lawmaker added that the initiative demonstrates his commitment to the welfare and development of his constituents, and his efforts to make a positive impact in his community.
The Reps Member added that his Constituency intervention is designed to address the challenges faced by his constituents, including youth unemployment, poverty, and insurgency.
He noted that empowering the beneficial groups will help reduce the impact of current challenges and promote unity and equal representation in the communities.
The beneficiaries, selected from all electoral wards of Barkin-Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, were presented with packages after the training to improve their living conditions and those of their families and communities.
The Lawmaker highlighted some of his achievements in the past ten months, to includes promoting Peaceful co-existence, engaging religious and traditional leaders, procurement of transformers, construction of classroom blocks, and distribution of palliatives to victims of bandits' attacks.
He emphasized the need for synergy and collaboration to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, irrespective of political affiliations.
He appealed to the government, individuals, and organizations to join hands in the socio-economic emancipation of the people.
Hon. Fom However advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials and equipment provided, and become pioneers in their communities.
Project Coordinator of the three days Training from Joternam Limited Abuja Surv. John Tondu said the aimed of the training is to ensure those that were selected and presented with the machines and equipment by the Lawmaker have the requisite knowledge to use them.
He disclosed that the program is designed to equip participants with skills and resources, consists of two components: training and empowerment.
The coordinator said that empowerment cannot be effective without proper training, highlighting the importance of understanding the skills required for various trades.
"The training aspect of the program focuses on developing skills in areas such as hairdressing, sewing, mechanics, electrician work, oil extraction, vulcanizing, welding, and carpentry. A total of over 200 participants are undergoing training in these areas.
"In addition to training, the program also provides empowerment to over 500 individuals, including those who have already acquired skills but require resources to enhance their businesses.
The coordinator clarified that not all trained participants will be empowered, but those who have existing skills will receive support to maximize their potential.
The Atah Aten of Ganuwuri, His Royal Highness Da Yakubu, and the Gwom Rwei of Barkin Ladi, Da Edward Gyang Bot, both commended the Lawmaker for his empowering youths, women, widows, and victims of insurgency in the Barkin Ladi and Riyom Federal Constituency.
The traditional rulers acknowledged the positive impact of the program on their communities and expressed gratitude for Hon. Fom's efforts in addressing the needs of his constituents.
