The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has made a generous donation of N50 million to the Tijjaniya sect, aimed at supporting their efforts in propagating Islam.
Governor Idris announced the donation during the Kebbi International Maulud for Sheik Ahmad Tijjani 2024, held at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
The event, organized by the national body of the Tijjaniya sect and hosted by its Kebbi chapter, attracted participants from across the region, including attendees from Morocco, Algeria, and Senegal.
In his speech, Governor Idris expressed his unwavering support for organizations dedicated to the propagation of Islam, encouraging them to maintain their commitment.
He reflected on the strong relationship between his administration and the sect, noting that their support was instrumental in his electoral victory.
"We have been in love with this sect ever since before I became what we are doing today. Therefore, we are ready to support you to succeed even if it's outside this country," the governor stated.
Sheik Ibrahim bn Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, a prominent Islamic cleric and son of the esteemed Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi, highlighted the significance of the Maulud event in honoring the contributions of renowned Islamic scholars, particularly Shehu Ahmadu Tijjani, who played a pivotal role in spreading Islam.
The cleric also expressed gratitude for the continuous support from Governor Idris’s administration and appealed for its continuation.
