The Management of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUSHO) has strongly refuted allegations of corruption and salary withholding leveled against the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Innocent Ujah, by Nigerian Anchor, an online media platform. In a press release signed by Mr. James Onogwu, Coordinator of Information, Publication, and Public Relations, the management described the accusations as baseless, lacking in evidence, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of Prof. Ujah, who has successfully led the institution for four years despite the challenges of building a new university from scratch.
The statement emphasized that the Vice Chancellor, alongside other principal officers, has worked tirelessly to position FUSHO as a center for academic excellence.
It condemned Nigerian Anchor’s publication as a smear campaign driven by disinformation, adding that those behind it were not comfortable with the achievements made under Prof. Ujah's leadership.
Responding to the claim of salary withholding, the management clarified that salary payments are the responsibility of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), and it is incomprehensible to blame the Vice Chancellor for issues beyond his control.
On the allegation of contract irregularities, the university reiterated that all projects executed under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) adhered to strict guidelines and public procurement laws.
The management urged Nigerian Anchor to engage in responsible journalism, visit the university for proper information, and cease the dissemination of misleading reports.
They reaffirmed that FUSHO remains on the path to becoming a world-class institution through its commitment to teaching, research, and community service.
