The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has called for an urgent investigation into a video circulating online, where a Nigerian woman residing in Brampton, Canada, was allegedly inciting violence and calling for the killing of members of a particular tribe in Nigeria.
The woman, identified as Mrs. Amaka Patience Sonnberger, is a disability support worker in Brampton.
In a letter addressed to the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, and signed by NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Commission expressed concern over the potential danger this woman could pose to the vulnerable individuals she works with.
The letter emphasized the need for thorough scrutiny of her actions, particularly given her threat to poison persons from a specific tribe.
NiDCOM noted that while Canadian authorities have been informed of the situation by Nigerians living in Canada, the Commission is lending its voice to ensure that such issues are effectively addressed.
The Commission's appeal highlights the importance of preventing such incitement from taking root and ensuring the safety of all communities involved.
