Abuja, Nigeria — The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified reports regarding the ongoing membership drive, emphasizing that it is solely for new members and does not require existing members to revalidate their membership.
In a press release signed by Hon. Deborah Ologunagbe, National Publicity Secretary, the NWC stated that it had received reports from some Wards in various States where existing members were asked to revalidate their membership. In response, the NWC clarified that the current membership drive aims to provide an opportunity for eligible Nigerians eager to join the party, which has seen a surge in new registrations across the country.
The NWC assured that the membership status, rights, and privileges of existing members remain valid and are not affected by the new membership drive. No existing member is required to revalidate their membership, as they remain bona fide members of the PDP.
The NWC advised all members and party officers, especially at the Electoral Ward level, to adhere to this clarification and guide their actions accordingly.
The PDP acknowledged the continuing influx of Nigerians into the party through the membership drive and encouraged all members to work together to strengthen the party for future challenges.
