The wife of Nigerian President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has emphasized the importance of legislative scorecards and Community engagement by lawmakers at the National Assembly as a yardstick to build trust and confidence in electorates.
She stated this in Gboko, Benue State in North Central Nigeria during a one year Open Day Legislative Forum organized by the wife of Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Member Representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency, Hon. Regina Akume.
Represented at the occasion by Hajiya Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker House of Representatives, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the significance of providing stewardship reports and gathering feedback from constituents.
She expressed pride in her successful relationship with her constituents during her stint at the upper legislative chambers and announced that the one year Open Day Legislative event for Gboko/Tarka put together by Mrs. Akume to showcase her legislative achievements and receive feedback was imperative.
She encouraged the people of Gboko and Tarka to participate and share their views at the event.
Hon. Regina Akume used the occasion to showcase her numerous accomplishments during her first year in the National Assembly.
Some of the achievements include the drilling of 38 boreholes in Local Communities, construction of accommodations for state medical workers, provision of health insurance for thousands of families, and infrastructure projects such as road improvements and school constructions.
Mrs. Akume, a former first Lady of Benue State also reaffirmed her commitment to empower women and youths in her constituency, just as she expressed gratitude for the support she has received from her constituents.
