Alhaji Musa Shuaibu, a prominent community leader in Shabu, Lafia North Development Area of Nasarawa State, has been released from captivity.
Shuaibu, known as the Madakin Shabu, was abducted on Thursday evening shortly after the dusk prayer (Isha'i) as he was returning to his residence, located just meters away from the mosque.
His younger brother, Shu'aibu Madaki, confirmed to Nasarawa Newsline that Shuaibu was freed after a ransom payment of 15 million Naira was made to the abductors on Sunday afternoon.
Shuaibu regained his freedom around noon on Monday.
Currently, Alhaji Musa Shuaibu is receiving medical treatment at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital for injuries sustained during his captivity.
The Nasarawa State Police Command reported on Friday that efforts were underway to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victim.
