Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, stood in for Governor Abdullahi Sule at the opening session of the Nasarawa State Domestic Resource Mobilization Review Meeting.
The purpose of the event is to strategize on improving access to quality Primary Health Care (PHC) services and achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the state.
The review meeting is taking place at the Exclusive Serene Hotel & Suite, located at Plot 31 Reuben Okoye Crescent, Wuye, Abuja. The event spans two days, from Monday, June 24 to Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Key state officials, including representatives from various ministries, departments, and agencies, are in attendance.
This gathering aims to provide a comprehensive update on the progress of health initiatives in Nasarawa State, with a particular focus on the operations of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) and the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NAPHDA).
The discussions will center on expanding health insurance coverage and revitalizing PHC systems to ensure that more residents have access to essential health services.
The meeting underscores the importance of collaboration among state entities and stakeholders, with the theme.
“Towards achieving universal health coverage through domestic resources: strengthening accountability and partnership with State MDAs, legislature, and local government authorities to expand social health insurance & strengthen primary health care systems in Nasarawa State.
” The initiative is supervised by the USAID Local Health System Sustainability Project, highlighting the role of international partnerships in enhancing local health systems.
Participants include the Honorable Commissioner of Health, Permanent Secretary, Members of the House Committee on Health, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital Management Board, leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, 13 Local Government Chairmen, and various development partners.
The collective efforts aim to drive significant improvements in the health sector of Nasarawa State.
