A Minna Chief Magistrate court Number Six presided over by Mrs Halima Mohammed, has convicted and Sentenced two persons to a total of ten years imprisonment
The convicts included Abubakar Umaru aged 25, and Mohammed Sani 35 years all of Minna town were convicted on two count charges which bothered on theft and concealment of stolen property.
According to the police Prosecutor Inspector Malami Aliyu the two count charges were punishable under sections 288 and 317 of the penal code law.
The police Prosecutor told the court that on the 7th, of May 2024, at about 1.30 am " based on the strength of and credible Information gathered a team of operation Flush patrol team led by ASP Adamu Manga traced to Minna abattoir (kwata), at Tayi village in Minna and arrested you Abubakar Umar and you Mohammed Sani of Minna township respectively.
" Were arrested with a brown color female cow suspected to have been stolen. In the course of police Investigation, you both confessed to have stolen the cow from Shifana village, via Bosso Minna and Invited Mohammed Sani to assist in searching for a buyer before your arrest" the prosecutor told the court.
When the charges were read to them by the Presiding Chief Magistrate Mrs Halima, they all pleaded guilty to the charge and the Prosecutor told the Chief Magistrate to invoke the Provision of section 199 paragraph C of the Administration of Criminal Justice law of Niger State (ACJA).
The Presiding Chief Magistrate Mrs Halima Mohammed, then Convicted and sentenced them to two years imprisonment without an option of fine on the offense of theft while she Sentenced them to three years imprisonment with an option of N150,000 each..
