Devastating Windstorm Leaves Lafia Residents Homeless, Damages Polytechnic

A devastating windstorm has caused significant damage to both residential and commercial properties in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State. The storm, which struck recently, has left many residents homeless and affected numerous businesses.

Our correspondent  recounted how the storm completely blew off the roof of his house, rendering him homeless. Despite his recent efforts to cover his new house, he now faces the daunting task of rebuilding and has appealed for assistance from authorities and philanthropists.

The Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic in Lafia also suffered extensive damage. 

According to Mukhtar Wakeel, the institution's Director of Public Relations and Protocol, at least five buildings, including the Administrative Block and various schools and centers within the campus, were severely affected.

 The Acting Rector, Doctor Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, assured that steps are being taken to prevent future occurrences and that repairs would be carried out promptly to ensure that academic and administrative activities continue without interruption.

This incident underscores the vulnerability of the region to such natural disasters and highlights the need for robust measures to mitigate future risks.
