Agbashi community in Ekye Development Area is reeling from the aftermath of a devastating windstorm that struck on Tuesday evening. According to reports, the calamity has resulted in the loss of one life, numerous injuries, and widespread destruction of property.
Acting chairman of the Agbashi Development Association (ADA), Mr. Anthony Oshinyeka, confirmed the incident, revealing that over one hundred residential houses were obliterated, along with the Agbashi Central mosque and part of Pilot Primary School Agbashi. Several other public infrastructure have also been severely damaged.
Tragically, one man lost his life in the Bassa settlement in Iponu, on the outskirts of Agbashi, while seven others sustained injuries.
In response to the crisis, Mr. Oshinyeka has urgently called for government intervention to alleviate the suffering of the affected populace. He emphasized the pressing need for immediate assistance, including the release of food and medical aid to aid the hungry and injured individuals currently undergoing treatment in hospitals.
The community is now grappling with the arduous task of rebuilding and recovering from the devastating effects of the windstorm. As the situation remains dire, the plea for assistance from both the government and compassionate individuals grows more urgent.
