In a proactive move to maintain peace and security in Taraba State, troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized five violent extremists, disrupted kidnapping attempts, and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
Acting on reliable intelligence regarding a planned kidnapping of church members returning from a program in Wukari, troops from the 93 Battalion swiftly intervened, resulting in a fierce encounter with the extremists.
This operation led to the elimination of four extremists and the confiscation of two AK 47 rifles, one Pump Action rifle, and two AK 47 magazines. Additionally, during a patrol in the Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government Area, troops encountered suspected violent extremists, promptly responding with superior firepower.
This engagement resulted in the neutralization of one extremist and the recovery of a locally fabricated FN pistol, two rounds of 9MM ammunition, and a mobile phone belonging to the criminal.
The success of these operations underscores the unwavering commitment of the 6 Brigade to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, thereby fostering a safer environment for business activities to thrive.
The military urges the public to continue supporting their efforts by providing timely and credible information on any suspicious activities or movements of criminals within the state.
