The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding the formation of a Caretaker Committee within the party's ranks. In a statement issued today by Tambari Sydney Gbara, the State Publicity Secretary, the party clarified that the list being circulated is fabricated and should be disregarded.
Gbara emphasized that the National Leadership of the PDP had directed the transformation of the old Executive Committee members into Caretaker Committees following the expiration of their tenures. This directive, he noted, did not involve the addition or removal of any members, even in cases of resignation or demise.
He labeled the circulating list as the handiwork of individuals seeking to sow discord within the party and create unnecessary distractions in the political landscape of the state. Gbara asserted that the authenticity of the list is questionable and does not align with the directives from the party's leadership.
The statement further reassured party supporters of the integrity and unity of the PDP Executive Committee, emphasizing that all members have transitioned seamlessly into the Caretaker Committees as per the guidelines outlined by the National Secretariat.
Additionally, the party urged its supporters to remain steadfast in their allegiance to His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Ksc, GSSRS, the Executive Governor of River State and the leader of the PDP in the state.
The Rivers PDP Executive Committee reiterated its commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and urged for unity and solidarity among its members as they continue to strive for the advancement of the party's objectives.
