In a thrilling encounter at the Lafia City Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Nasarawa United secured a 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi, reclaiming their second position on the NNL24 log. The Solid Miners, coming off a narrow defeat to Yobe Desert Stars, showed resilience and determination to overcome their opponents.

Led by Technical Adviser Usman Adams, Nasarawa United fielded a formidable lineup, with notable changes including the inclusion of Sabo Gambo. The home side wasted no time asserting their dominance, with match-day captain Hassan Moyi opening the scoring just seven minutes into the game with a stunning left-footed volley.

A stroke of misfortune for El-Kanemi saw captain Zayyad Musa scoring an own goal before halftime, further bolstering Nasarawa United's lead. Despite a spirited comeback attempt by the visitors, highlighted by Alamin Umar's header in the 68th minute, the Solid Miners held firm defensively to secure the win.

Defender Saviour Chukwu was instrumental in Nasarawa United's victory, earning the Man-of-the-Match recognition for his solid performance. With 26 points from 13 games, Nasarawa United now sits just two points behind table-toppers El-Kanemi.

In a post-match reaction, Coach Usman Adams commended his team's efforts and expressed confidence in their ability to maintain momentum in the upcoming matches. He also praised Chukwu for his outstanding contribution to the team's success.

The victory sets the stage for an exciting showdown as Nasarawa United prepares to face zonal rivals Mighty Jets International FC in their next fixture at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday, 13th April 2024.
