Nasarawa state government said so far 130 Almajiris have been enrolled into the National Health issurance Scheme NAHIS as part of effort by the state government to improve their health status.
State commissioner for Women Affairs and social Development Hajiya Aishatu Ruffai Ibrahim who stated this during the 3rd Annual National Almajiri conference held at the Taal conference Hotel Lafia, state capital
According to her" Nasarawa state government embarked on pragmatic programmes and policies geared toward impacting positively on the lives of the Almajiris where over 80 Almajiris have also been enrolled into public schools in the state in order to enable them acquire basic Western education".
She added that Measures have, been put in place toward ensuring that Almajiris are engage in meaningful venture for their future than roaming the streets for begging, calling on individuals and groups to key into through rendering assistance for the liberation of Almajiris in the state.
Earlier, in his remark at the event ,the Director Education Almajiri Liberation movement Abdullahi Mohammed said that Almajiri liberation is a movement aimed at reforming the Law and system of education in Nigeria as well as an NGO which is targetted at aiding the Almajiris: he added that arrangement had be on ground to to enroll over 260 Almajiris into public schools .
